Achieving life balance is in huge demand today especially among professional women, women entrepreneurs and stay at home moms.
Are you also a woman seeking true life balance? What have you tried to achieve it? Have you created a vision around what life balance might look like for you? What is YOUR definition of life balance?
As a mompreneur, coach, speaker, author, I too have been on this quest for life balance and have come to my personal and professional conclusion that one truly cannot achieve it all and achieve it all well. Which brings me to the question, “Are we setting ourselves up for failure by believing in true life balance?”
Tony Robbins states,” if you link enough pain to any rule that doesn’t server you, replace it with a rule that does!”
I have personally had to change my set of rules for what achieving life balance means to me. The expectations I had to meet my own definition of life balance were unrealistic, unachievable and simply creating lots of negative energy and a huge sense of failure.
I changed my rules! What about you? Do you need to change your rules for how to achieve life balance? Maybe you need to remove the term life balance from your vocabulary and rename it ‘life management’ .
I personally believe in order to achieve extreme success, your focus need to be on that one goal. Everything else becomes put to the wayside. Sacrifices, compromises, understanding, and arrangements have to be made.
Let’s say you are a stay at home mom who wants to start her own profitable business. You also want to be an excellent mother, make perfectly balanced healthy meals and snacks, save money, have a clean house, look hot for her husband, stay funny and creative and plan really cool, creative playdates… doing it all yourself well and all on a budget!!
How could life balance be achieved in this situation? A LOT can be done to make most of this happen, but there will be some sort of price or sacrifice or compromise to be made. You might have to have pre-made meals delivered to your door, hire a sitter so you have scheduled work hours, hire a housecleaner, get regular massages in order to feel your best, hire an assistant to schedule things for your business, playdates, go shopping, drag your kids to the gym daycare which they don’t love in order for you to get a workout in…all of the above!!
In my opinion, in order to achieve the goals you want to achieve, job promotion, new business, supermom, etc. Something has to give, something will always have to be adjusted.
Simply knowing that has helped me and many of my clients come to terms with choosing what they are willing to compromise ( I like that word better than sacrifice) in order to achieve the BIG goals they have for themselves, their careers and their business.
Get resourceful and your personal definition of life balance will evolve!
As outlined by the National Organic Program Standards, the term refers to farming practices that eschew the use of fertilizers made with sewage sludge, the sterilization of goods by irradiation and the sowing of genetically modified seeds.
According to Body+Sould magazine, the standards also forbid most conventional pesticides. All meta, dairy egg and poultry farmers use only 100 percent feed that is organic. They also allow their animals access to the outdoors and avoid using growth hormones and antibiotics.Personally, I want to feel best at all times.
I switched to eating organically about 5 years ago and never looked back. It has helped me become more aware of what I am putting into my body and how what goes into my body affect my productivity …especially in my business.
When you eat organically, you lower your exposure to antibiotics, hormones and pesticides. Personally, if there is any possibility that I can affect the amount of exposure to these harmful additives, than I will play full on!!
It can get a bit pricey, however I would rather pay now than giving my money to the doctor in the long run (or short run!). Even when times are tighter than others, I will always buy organic meats, dairy , most fruit and veggies.
The most important fruits to buy organically because they contain the highest concentration of pesticides are:Apples, Strawberries, Bell Peppers, Celery, Carrots, Lettuce, Peaches, Pears, Imported Grapes, Cherries, and Nectarines.
If you want to feel your best, perform your best and stay healthy and strong, consider the switch. Once you do, you will find it truly hard to go back!
