I recently wrote and article about how to balance your life and work. In the article, one of the tips I wrote about was to surround your self with a support network.
I wanted to blog about this this morning because I had a chance to reflect last night as to how lucky I am to have such incredible, supportive, loving people in my life! Do you have that in yours?
When you work for yourself, it is easy to get off track, veer down another road, lose focus on your vision and forget about why being an entrepreneur means so much to you!!
It’s when you have these people, these groups in place that make all the difference in the world. Reaching out to them, talking with them, brainstorming with them, THINKING BIG with them is what can truly fuel your mission.
Last night I had such a wonderful dinner with a good friend and colleague of mine, Image Consultant Michele Little of http://www.onechicmama.com Our birthdays are one day apart….GO CAPRICORNS!!!!
She has amazing talent, strength and great ideas and is a BIG THINKER just like me! We spent the evening in great converstation, sharing ideas and brainstorming our 2010 together. I will be interviewing her shortly to share her incredible insight and fashion tips. She also has a great book, Mamma’s Little Helpers too!
What about you? Do you have a person or a group that can not only understand what being an entrepreneur means, but can also be a sounding board, support and who is a BIG THINKER?
If not, that is my assignment for you this week. Find a person or a group that you can meet with on a consitent basis that shares the same goals and bigger picture as you do!
I like to celebrate birthdays! It was my birthday on Sunday and will be my son’s birthday on Wednesday…he turns the big 5!! I still can’t believe it! My mom came up to spend the weekend with me and we had the best time! She and I are the best of friends…she is my angel, and my rock and is exactly the type of mother I want to be for my little guy!
Because every January brings so many signs to ‘start fresh’ I really take it to heart. Do you? I focus on big picture ideas, planning, goal setting and how to make the most of my days and week.
Here are 3 tips to use right away to help transform your possibly disorganized week and get some focus on creating some space for you to ‘get creative’!
#1- Find a new place to work- If you are constantly in the same place as you write and think, you might find yourself feeling stuck and uninspired. Try taking the ol’ laptop to another location such as a coffee house, a bookstore…somewhere that will bring new light to your thoughts, your writing, your creative side!
#2- Always have good quality writing tools – Invest in some beautiful desk supplies, pens, paper, notepads, easels, whiteboards…giving you a place to always be creative and will help you with that creative flow.! Invest in nice pens that flow easily and that you love to write with. Purchase beautiful paper, easels and white boards. I always look for happy looking notebooks, and am very picky with the way my planner looks and feels. Try doing this and notice what happens!
#3- Clear the clutter- This is a must do in order to have creative energy. Make sure your desk is cleared…things are in their proper place. Files are put away. Notice what is surrounding your work space too. Do you have a Vision board to look at? Beautiful art? Do you listen to soft, inspiring music as you work? Think about how you can set up your work environment so you are subconsciously stimulated creatively.
