As outlined by the National Organic Program Standards, the term refers to farming practices that eschew the use of fertilizers made with sewage sludge, the sterilization of goods by irradiation and the sowing of genetically modified seeds.
According to Body+Sould magazine, the standards also forbid most conventional pesticides. All meta, dairy egg and poultry farmers use only 100 percent feed that is organic. They also allow their animals access to the outdoors and avoid using growth hormones and antibiotics.Personally, I want to feel best at all times.
I switched to eating organically about 5 years ago and never looked back. It has helped me become more aware of what I am putting into my body and how what goes into my body affect my productivity …especially in my business.
When you eat organically, you lower your exposure to antibiotics, hormones and pesticides. Personally, if there is any possibility that I can affect the amount of exposure to these harmful additives, than I will play full on!!
It can get a bit pricey, however I would rather pay now than giving my money to the doctor in the long run (or short run!). Even when times are tighter than others, I will always buy organic meats, dairy , most fruit and veggies.
The most important fruits to buy organically because they contain the highest concentration of pesticides are:Apples, Strawberries, Bell Peppers, Celery, Carrots, Lettuce, Peaches, Pears, Imported Grapes, Cherries, and Nectarines.
If you want to feel your best, perform your best and stay healthy and strong, consider the switch. Once you do, you will find it truly hard to go back!
